🌿 GREEN MEMORY HOUSE & ECO-FLOWER FOREST

(The Green Memory House & Ecological Flower Forest)

🌍 Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark

Located in the northernmost region of Vietnam, the Dong Van Karst Plateau stretches across four districts — Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, and Meo Vac — covering an area of over 2,356 km² at an average altitude of 1,100–1,600 meters. More than 80% of this land is made up of ancient limestone formations hundreds of millions of years old, preserving the geological evolution of our planet.

Recognized by UNESCO on March 10, 2010, Dong Van became Vietnam’s first Global Geopark and the second in Southeast Asia, thanks to its exceptional geological, scenic, and cultural values.

On this harsh yet magnificent plateau, nature and people together have created timeless wonders such as Ma Pi Leng Pass, Nho Que River, Lung Cu Flag Tower, and the Vuong Family’s Palace, along with the vibrant cultural traditions of the H’Mong, Tay, and Lo Lo ethnic groups.

A highlight of this region is the Happiness Road (National Highway 4C) — a legendary 185 km route linking Ha Giang City to the four highland districts. Construction began on October 9, 1959, and was completed in March 1965 through the courage and determination of over 1,200 young volunteers and local workers who carved the road through cliffs and rock mountains. President Ho Chi Minh himself named it the “Road of Happiness” to honor their sacrifice and resilience.

Today, the Dong Van Karst Plateau and the Happiness Road stand as enduring symbols of Vietnamese strength, unity, and hope — living reminders of the will to rise above adversity.

✨ Inspired by that same spirit, the Green Memory House & Eco-Flower Forest project was created — a humanitarian journey to continue the story of life on the stone plateau:

🌸 From the gray rocks, flowers shall bloom — where memory, nature, and hope grow together.

Part 1. Introduction

On the Dong Van Karst Plateau — recognized by UNESCO as Vietnam’s first Global Geopark — the majestic yet harsh limestone landscape has long witnessed the marks of history and culture. From this arid gray land, more than half a century ago, thousands of young volunteers and ethnic villagers shed sweat, blood, and their youth to carve out the Happiness Road — the legendary route connecting Ha Giang City with Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van, and Meo Vac.

That road was not just a passage of transport — it became a symbol of willpower, aspiration, and resilience, a living testament to the human spirit rising above hardship to sow seeds of happiness for generations to come.

Today, on this very land, we initiate the Green Memory House & Eco-Flower Forest Project — a journey that continues the legacy of the Happiness Road.
If the previous generation brought happiness by paving the stone road, this generation spreads happiness through green bricks and flowers blooming on the rocky plateau.

  • 🌿 Green Memory House: A community house built from enzyme eco-bricks — sustainable materials made from organic waste, symbolizing renewal and regeneration. Each brick is not only a building block but also a personal memory, engraved with the name of its contributor.
  • 🌸 Eco-Flower Forest: An ecological and medicinal flower forest, where every planted flower carries a tag engraved with the planter’s name — a living tribute that blossoms and endures over time.

What makes this project truly special is its global participation. With just 2 USD (≈ 50,000 VND), anyone can leave their mark on the plateau:

  • 🧱 A brick bearing your name will become part of the Green Memory House.
  • 🌺 A tribute flower will bloom in the Eco-Flower Forest, carrying your love and goodwill into nature.

Every small contribution becomes a piece of a greater whole — a shared memory landscape,
where barren rocks blossom into flowers,
and happiness continues to bloom — generation after generation.

Part 2. TARGET

🤝 4. Continuing the Spirit of the Happiness Road – Building a New Path of Life

If the Happiness Road (National Highway 4C) was once built with the blood, sweat, and unyielding will of over 1,200 young volunteers and ethnic villagers, then today, this project carries that same spirit in a new form.

We are not constructing another concrete road, but a path of memory, hope, and global unity — paved with memory bricks, shaded by tribute flowers, and nurtured by humanity’s shared love for nature and a greener future.

The Green Memory House & Eco-Flower Forest Project is designed so that every contribution, no matter how small, becomes an everlasting mark.
Each participant not only offers a gift to nature but also leaves behind their name, memory, and love on the rocky plateau of Dong Van.

Part 3. Ways to Leave a Living Tribute

🧱 The Green Brick – A Timeless Mark of Memory

  • Each enzyme eco-brick will be engraved with your name on both sides, serving as a permanent witness to your participation.
  • Supporters can choose to keep the natural texture of the brick to honor simplicity, or add color to highlight their individuality.
  • These bricks will not be stored in warehouses or museums — they will become part of the actual structure of the Green Memory House.
  • Thus, this house is built not only from sustainable bio-materials but also from the emotions and memories of thousands of people from around the world.

👉 Each brick carries a message:

“I was here — I helped the Stone Plateau bloom.”

🌸 The Tribute Flower – When Memory Blossoms into Life

  • Every flower in the Eco-Flower Forest will carry a bamboo or wooden tag engraved with the donor’s name.
  • As the plant grows and blossoms, it becomes a living reflection of your memory, thriving amidst the harsh beauty of the plateau.
  • The project will send you photos and videos of the flower bearing your name, so that wherever you are, you can see your memory growing — alive and fragrant on Dong Van’s rocky land.
  • Each flower stands not only for today but also for future generations — a testament that life can bloom even on barren rocks, thanks to the shared care of humankind.

👉 Each flower is a message of gratitude:

“Within new life, there lives your memory.”

💡 Through these two forms of tribute — memory bricks and tribute flowers, the project aims to turn every small act of giving into part of something much larger:
a Global House of Memory and an Eco-Flower Forest,
where every brick and every petal carries a story of its own.

Part 5. Project Activities

1️⃣ Producing Enzyme Eco-Bricks from Organic Waste

♻️ Local organic waste — such as vegetable peels, agricultural by-products, and tourism waste — is collected and processed using enzyme-based technology.

  • This process not only helps reduce pollution but also creates durable, eco-friendly construction materials.
  • Each green enzyme brick carries both physical and symbolic value — a symbol of regeneration, transforming waste into memory and discarded materials into living architecture.

2️⃣ Planting Flowers and Medicinal Plants in the Eco-Flower Forest

🌸 The project cultivates an ecological flower forest on the barren rocky plateau.

  • Carefully selected native and medicinal flower species will enrich the landscape while bringing healing and economic benefits to local communities.
  • This forest becomes a green lung and a living symbol of “The Blooming Stone Plateau”, adding a unique touch to the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark.

3️⃣ Engraving Names on Bricks & Hanging Tags on Flower Trees

🖋️ Every brick or flower tree carries the name of a supporter.

  • Names can be engraved directly on the brick or inscribed on eco-friendly wooden tags tied to flower plants.
  • These are eternal personal marks, messages left for future generations: “I was here, and I helped the Stone Plateau bloom.”

4️⃣ Building the Green Memory House with Named Bricks

🏡 The Green Memory House — a community landmark — will be built entirely from enzyme bricks engraved with supporters’ names.

  • It will serve as a Center of Memory, preserving the names, images, and heartfelt messages of supporters from around the world.
  • Inside, there will be an exhibition space telling the story of the Happiness Road, the young pioneers who once built it, and the new journey we continue today — the “Green Memory Road.”

5️⃣ Welcoming Visitors for Discovery, Experience & Memory Retrieval

🚶‍♂️ Visitors to the project site will not only observe but also embark on a personalized journey of remembrance:

Stay in community homestays, enjoy ethnic culture and cuisine, and feel the dual nature of the land — harsh yet blooming.

Find their engraved name on a brick or among the flowers.

Join locals in planting flowers and trees on the rocky plateau.

Part 6. Impact & Significance

🌸 The Blooming Stone Plateau – Continuing the “Happiness Road” Legacy

The Dong Van Karst Plateau, once a land of sharp limestone cliffs, harsh winds, and barren soil, is now illuminated by a new aspiration. The Happiness Road — that legendary path built from the sweat, blood, and iron will of thousands of young volunteers and ethnic villagers — has long stood as an eternal symbol of human resilience amidst the grandeur of nature.

Today, that same spirit is reborn and carried forward. From the cold gray rocks of the past emerges a new landscape through the Green Memory House & Eco-Flower Forest: a place where stones bloom, where memories are engraved, and where happiness is no longer just the name of a road, but a living green space — vibrant in every breath of today and tomorrow.

🌱 Environment

• From seemingly worthless organic waste, the project creates green enzyme bricks — recycled, durable, and environmentally friendly materials.
• The once barren gray mountainsides now bloom with flowers and medicinal plants, turning desolation into an ecological lung for the entire plateau.
• This is more than a recycling act — it is a green declaration: a promise to restore nature’s colors and reconnect humans with the living earth.

💼 Economy

• The project generates sustainable jobs for local communities — from producing eco-bricks and cultivating flowers to managing the ecological forest and community tourism services.
• Local people are not merely workers but owners of their memories and new heritage, benefiting directly and long-term from green tourism development.
• Medicinal and herbal flowers open new economic pathways — through essential oils, herbal teas, and natural products branded under “The Blooming Stone Plateau.”

🤝 Society

• Every individual, wherever they are in the world, can leave a personal mark — a brick engraved with their name, or a flower bearing their message of gratitude.
• Together, these marks form a global collective memory, a testament to the bond between humanity and nature, and between generations.
• It is a cross-border community action, affirming that we can build a land of happiness through love and shared purpose.

🏞️ Tourism

• The Dong Van Karst Plateau will gain a one-of-a-kind destination — where visitors not only admire the landscape but also find their own name on a brick of the house or on a flower in the forest.
• This experience transforms each visitor into a living part of the land, allowing them to take home not just memories but a deep sense of connection and pride.
• Tourism here is no longer just “to see,” but to live, to connect, and to leave behind a memory for the future.

✨ This is not merely an architectural or tourism project — it is a journey that continues the legacy of the Happiness Road.
If the road of the past was built with blood, sweat, and determination, then today’s road is written with flowers, memories, and a green aspiration.

🌸 This marks a new chapter for the Stone Plateau — the chapter of a Blooming Land of Green Memories.
