The Legend of Khau Vai Love Market: The Tragic Love of Ba and Ut 💔

The origins of Khau Vai Love Market trace back to the moving love story of Ba and Ut:

• Ba, a young man from the Nung ethnic group in Khau Vai, was handsome, talented in singing and flute-playing, but born into poverty.
• Ut, a beautiful girl, was the daughter of a wealthy Giay tribal leader.

Though deeply in love, their relationship was forbidden by Ut’s family due to differences in ethnicity and customs. Unable to overcome societal prejudices, the two lovers fled to a cave in Khau Vai to live together. However, the enmity between their families led to a bloody confrontation. Watching the violence from the cave, Ba and Ut were heartbroken to see their families fighting. To preserve peace, they made the painful decision to part ways, vowing to meet again every year on the 27th day of the 3rd lunar month to share their stories, sing together, and confide their thoughts. 🏞️🩸
