Quan Ba Heaven Gate – The Gate to Ha Giang Plateau
Quan Ba Heaven Gate is one of the first stops on the journey to explore the Dong Van stone plateau and the Ha Giang loop. Located at an altitude of about 1,500 meters above sea level, this place is not only a majestic natural landscape but also a symbol of the cultural and historical values of the land at the head of the Fatherland.
Special features of Quan Ba Heaven Gate:
- Strategic location:
- As the “door” leading to the Dong Van stone plateau, Quan Ba Heaven Gate used to be an important defensive position in the border protection wars.
- From here, you can see the panoramic view of the overlapping mountain ranges and the valleys stretching below.
- Beautiful natural scenery:
- From the Heaven Gate, you can admire the Fairy Twin Mountains, a mountain with a unique shape likened to a “pair of hills” in the middle of the valley. This is one of the typical symbols of Ha Giang.
- The lush green terraced fields and small villages appear like a watercolor painting.
- Legend and cultural significance:
- Local people say that Quan Ba Heaven Gate is associated with the legend of the love between a H’Mong boy and a fairy from heaven. After she returned to heaven, she left behind her pair of hills to nurture the villagers.
- The name “Heaven Gate” also has a spiritual meaning, being the place where earth and sky meet, a symbol of the gate to heaven
