Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Ha Giang – Lung Tao

07:30: Depart from Ha Giang city, taking in scenic winding roads en route to Lung Tao village.
09:30: Arrive at Lung Tao village, check in to a traditional stilt house homestay, and enjoy a warm welcome with corn wine and local smiles.
10:00 – 12:00: Learn to make traditional black sticky rice cakes (banh chung):
Burn sticky rice straw to create natural black dye.
Wrap and boil the cakes over a wood stove.
12:30: Enjoy a lunch featuring cassava sticky rice, grilled stream fish, boiled wild vegetables, and smoked pork.
14:00 – 16:30: Explore the art of making hanging meat and hump cakes:
Marinate meat, then hang it traditionally in the kitchen.
Wrap hump cakes with wild dong leaves and boil until fragrant.
17:00: Take a leisurely walk around the village, admiring terraced fields, Shan Tuyet tea forests, and local scenery.
19:00: Dinner and cultural exchange by the campfire, listening to stories and learning about Dao customs.

Day 2: Lung Tao – Ha Giang

07:00: Begin the day with a traditional breakfast of cassava sticky rice and sweet Shan Tuyet tea.
08:00 – 10:30: Make five-color sticky rice:
Dye sticky rice naturally with forest leaves to achieve vibrant colors.
Cook in a traditional clay pot, enhancing the rice’s unique flavor.
11:00: Arrange a colorful tray of five-color sticky rice with fried ham, grilled meat, and learn about the cultural symbolism behind the dish’s colors.
12:00: Lunch with villagers, enjoying the dishes made during the tour.
13:30 – 16:30: Spend the afternoon exploring the village and nearby Shan Tuyet tea plantations, with more time for scenic walks, taking photos, and conversations with local families.
16:30: Farewell to Lung Tao and depart for Ha Giang city.
18:30: Arrival in Ha Giang, concluding the tour.
